Chairman's Dinner with Sir Graham Wylie CBE

25 January 2024, 18:00 - 23:00

The Biscuit Factory, Bermondsey St, Shieldfield, Newcastle, NE2 1AN

Start 2024 in style and join us for an evening with the man behind one of the UK’s most successful IT companies!

When Sir Graham Wylie CBE programmed Sage Group’s first software package and started the business with colleagues David Goldman and Nasa scientist Dr Paul Muller, he had no idea the success that would follow.

A computer science student at Newcastle University, Sir Graham would be instrumental in growing Sage from a humble start-up into one of the North East’s largest employers, hiring thousands of people, supporting millions of customers and worth an estimated £2 billion at the time of his exit in 2003.

Sir Graham may have “retired” from Sage but he didn’t rest on his laurels, instead venturing into commercial property with the redevelopment of Close House and launching new businesses in the UK and USA including TSG, the leading mid-market focused Microsoft partner in the UK.

With equal passion he launched his own charity - The Sir Graham Wylie Foundation - to support underprivileged or vulnerable young people in the North East of England; led efforts to bring the British and World Transplant Games to Newcastle and Gateshead; and raised millions of pounds for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund as its Patron.

Sir Graham’s contribution to the North East has been acknowledged by honorary doctorates at both Newcastle and Northumbria University, a CBE and knighthood for services to business and charity, and most recently, the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2023 Entrepreneurial Awards.

Outside of business, Sir Graham has many passions in his life including horse racing which, after many notable wins at Cheltenham, Royal Ascot and Aintree, saw Sir Graham named Owner of the Year, ahead of Sheikh Mohammed and our late Queen.

We could go on, but instead why don't you join us for what is sure to be an inspirational evening with one of the region’s most iconic entrepreneurs.
