Growing a business needs focus, commitment, and a strategy; things which can be overlooked as time and energy are often spent on the day to day running of the business.

In this panel event we’ll hear from three of the region's top entrepreneurs, Kevin Brown, Pacifica Group, Emma Gaudern, EMG Solicitors and Luis McCarthy, JMAC Group, all of whom have overcome this challenge and scaled in diverse industries. From legal services to industrial services and appliance repair, our panellists will discuss their own expansion experiences, the lessons they learnt, challenges they faced and what went well.

We will hear about the different routes they have chosen including organic growth, acquisition and investment, giving you invaluable insight into how others have supercharged growth within their own businesses.

This event will be of interest to any entrepreneur who is looking to scale or who has already embarked on their growth journey and is looking for ideas and inspiration on how to go faster.

About Our Panellists 
Kevin Brown
Kevin founded Pacifica Group along with co-founder Scott Pallister, after being made redundant from the Electricity Board in 2003.  From a standing start, Pacifica Group has become one of the UK’s largest providers of home services following a number  contract wins and acquisitions.  Today, Pacifica Group employs over 700 staff and reported turnover in excess of £60 million for 2022.

Emma Gaudern
Emma founded EMG Solicitors in 2014 after having worked in the industry since 1999. The last 12 months has seen turnover at the firm rise by 26 percent as it reached its ninth anniversary in February, with an additional 35 colleagues joining the firm in 2023 so far. As part of their strategic growth plans, this year also saw the opening of their Darlington and Manchester offices. Passionate about her work, Emma is a Court of Protection Appointed Deputy, a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and also the Northern Acquired Brain Injury Forum (NABIF)

Luis McCarthy
Luis is the Managing Director of JMAC Group having taken the reigns of the family business in 2015. Under his leadership JMAC has grown from a humble scaffolding business into a trailblazing industry leader with a turnover in-excess of £13 million and 175 employees working from their Stockton-on-Tees HQ. Over the past five years, JMAC has diversified, expanding to four distinct brands that seamlessly provide a comprehensive range of industry leading services. Luis' passion for the business and the industry has seen him named a finalist in this years Scale-Up Entrepreneur of the Year award.
