Focus Dinner with Dale Smith, SDDE Smith Group

8 June 2023, 17:30 - 21:30

The Coach House, Middleton Lodge, Middleton Tyas, Richmond, DL10 6NJ

Scale-up Entrepreneur of the Year 2022 finalist Dale Smith is a man on a mission; a mission to transform the way the North East is seen - and sees itself!

He founded The SDDE Smith Group in 2017 with one holiday home rental and has overseen the business growth to include multiple brands that provide end-to-end client services for the real estate sector, employing over 300 staff and with projected turnover of £30 million in 2023.

Dale started his career in 2010 with Vertu Motors on their graduate trainee programme, before joining his father at Peter Vardy Ltd in Scotland. Under the guidance of chief executive Peter Vardy (Jnr), Dale flourished and was quickly promoted from Marketing Executive to Commercial Director.  By the time he left Peter Vardy Ltd to set up The SDDE Group, Dale was responsible for overseeing £550 million of revenue.

His early ambitions had a sporting, rather than a business focus. After a broken leg halted a promising football career – he played for Middlesbrough Football Academy from the ages of eight to 13 – he turned to golf. This saw Dale attend the University of San Diego, joining Tim Mickelson (the younger brother of Open and Masters-winning golfer Phil), who was the head coach there. He played a significant role in the Men’s team, helping them to rise from 140th to 8th in Division one.

Dale’s passion for sports led to his 2022 takeover of Redcar Athletic FC which saw him become chairman. He has committed to develop the club to make it a hub for all those who care about Redcar and his investment includes the creation of a Young Entrepreneur’s Fund that will support, coach and mentor young entrepreneurs from across Redcar and Cleveland. The SDDE Smith Group are also Principal Partners of Dale’s childhood club Middlesbrough F.C and its MFC Foundation.

Join us for an evening with Dale and learn more about how he is ensuring community and providing job opportunities across the region are at the heart of his ambitious future growth plans. Making his hometown of Saltburn and the surrounding North East region a better place to live, work and stay!
