Focus Dinner with Jonathan Gold - How to Spot Opportunities and Become an Angel

27 March 2014, 18:30 - 21:30

Blackfriars Restaurant, Friars Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 4XN

Join Jonathan Gold and Forum friends as we launch our new series of informal Supper Club events for 2014.

If you’re starting the new year with a resolution to back other businesses, or if you run a business that plans to seek early stage angel investment, then this is the event for you.

With a background in business development, commercialisation and raising finance, establishing venture capital funds and investing, Jonathan has a wealth of knowledge to share which ever direction your interest comes from.

At this event, he will discuss how to identify the right businesses to invest in and how to become a successful angel.

Jonathan co-founded Newcastle-based Rivers Capital Partners with Peter Hiscocks and John White in 2009 to bring additional venture capital to the North of England. An active investor of the £7.5m North East Angel Fund, the business has so far completed more than 50 deals investing into 37 small businesses.

In 2008 Jonathan created Finance Tree Ltd in a management buyout from a team he built at NStar. Finance Tree is an investment readiness training business providing services to start-ups, entrepreneurs and small businesses including helping them to manage and access investment, venture capital and debt finance.

Prior to forming NStar, whose projects included the design and formation of the £10m North East Proof of Concept Fund, Jonathan worked in business development and the commercialisation of science and technology in both the UK and Japanese markets.

Designed especially for members to be both informative and entertaining, our Supper Club dinners take place in relaxed settings in the company of likeminded entrepreneurs. So if you’ve an appetite for investment, do come along and join us.
