Scale-up Leaders' Academy alumni - Ben Tansey

Re:heat’s director, Ben Tansey, attended the Scale-up Leaders’ Academy as part of the ‘Lockdown Cohort’, starting with face-to-face sessions and completing the programme via Zoom.

The six-month Academy, which is run by the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, had a significant impact on Ben and re:heat, doubling the firm’s turnover in the past two years and seeing employee numbers increase from 12 to 26.

Our turnover has doubled – the Academy put us on the right track in terms of thinking about the business holistically.

I learned so much, even on subjects that I thought I knew.

BEN TANSEY

“The Academy put us on the right track in terms of thinking about the business holistically,” Ben says. “The structure forced me to look at everything across the business and learn so much more, even on subjects that I thought I knew.”

Ben adds that, on a personal level, attending the Academy helped develop his confidence to talk to other business owners that are in a similar position.

“Peer-to-peer learning is the best part, it is good to hear their experiences and it puts you on the right path, gives you the right mindset,” he says.

For anyone interested in joining the next Academy cohort, Ben’s top three takeaways are that your perception towards business will change, and any Academy graduate will find that they can look at the bigger opportunity; to stay connected with people from the group as peer-to-peer learning is a great asset; and to get hold of the amazing reading list provided by Ian Kinnery.

The Entrepreneurs’ Forum is made up of 300 business leaders with a combined turnover of £2.6 billion. To register your interest for the next Scale Up Leaders’ Academy cohort complete the application form.
