Round Table Discussion: The Attention Crisis

With Charlotte Nichols, Harvey & Hugo

7 March 2023, 14:00 - 16:30

Business Central, 2 Union Square, Central Park, Darlington, DL1 1GL

The power of the internet (and everything it brings) has been at our fingertips since the advent of the smartphone in 2007.

Smart watches, speakers, TVs and more have followed suit, providing more helpful, powerful and thoughtful devices, each new model offering a more personalised experience than the one before it.

But as attention spans hit an all-time low, how can we ensure our smart devices are empowering us to work smarter not harder? How can time poor employees and employers remain productive in a world full of digital distractions?

Passionate about the science behind human behaviour, and having recently swapped her ‘smartphone’ (a device with advanced software features and connects to the internet) for a ‘dumbphone’ (a device without), Charlotte Nichols of Harvey & Hugo joins us to chair a discussion on the relationship between technology and productivity, focusing on how we can claim back focus.

Our round tables are shaped by your views and experience, so while we hope to cover the topics above, we may discuss other subjects related to technology and productivity during the session.

About our host - Charlotte founded Harvey and Hugo (the business named after her two border terriers) in 2009 to help businesses stand out from the crowd by developing lovable and memorable branding and campaigns which reach hearts and minds. 13 years on and Charlotte and her team (‘The Pack’) have developed a reputation for delivering high quality PR, social media and content marketing services for Harvey and Hugo’s diverse range of clients.

With a fascination for psychology, and studying the relationship between behavioural science and branding, Charlotte has previously delivered events on the topics of ‘Strengthening The Brain and Brand Connection’ and ‘How to Strengthen Connections to Your Brand with Neuro PR’.
