Across the globe, there’s an emerging trend of entrepreneurship: the increasing number of young entrepreneurs building successful businesses, many before the age of thirty.
They are the ‘entrepreneurs of tomorrow’. Enthusiastic about making a change in their society, these entrepreneurs are eager to be involved, eager to make a difference and eager to make their business a force for good. It’s not without its obstacles – from reduced capital to inexperience – being a young entrepreneur presents its own unique set of challenges but with passion, support and hard work, these businesses flourish and can grow into something amazing.
In this member event, you’ll gain insight into what it’s really like to build a business as a young entrepreneur all whilst learning more about two fantastic and fast-growing North East businesses: Wander Films and Sphera.
Chloë Clover, co-founder and director of Wander Films, and Forbes 30 under 30 recipient, will share her journey taking Wander Films from a small start-up launched during her travels in Australia into an award-winning video production and content marketing company known for creating next-level visual content for brands to #beatthescroll™.
Likewise, Sphera’s COO and CFO Phil Buckley, will detail his story with Sphera, a Durham University student spin-out which holds a vision to be a world leader in low carbon and environmentally friendly building materials. You’ll learn how they take waste materials and bi-products and transform them into carbon negative construction materials.
THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO CHILDREN AGED 11+
This is a member event with a difference - we’re passionate about celebrating the next generation of entrepreneurs and, if your children are anything like ours, we think they might pay more attention to someone else sharing their business experience rather than one of their parents!
So, if you’d like your children to be inspired by Chloë and Phil’s achievements, please bring them along for an early evening of inspiration.
About Our Speakers:
Chloë Clover is the co-founder/director of Wander Films, an award-winning video production and content marketing company known for creating next-level visual content for brands to #beatthescroll™.
Clover made the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 list and led Wander from two girls with a broken GoPro to a team of 17 working with brands all over the world.
Clover, who dropped out of school, is an enterprise advisor at Northern School of Art and is on the board of Power of Women, a community interest company dedicated to encouraging young people to follow their dreams.
Phil Buckley is the Co-Founder, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Sphera.
With a vision to be a world leader in low carbon and environmentally-friendly building materials, Sphera have designed and developed ‘OSTO’, an aggregate made from a combination of waste materials and bi-products for use in concrete blocks.
2.5x lighter than its traditional aggregate alternative, thermally insulating and carbon negative, OSTO helps in reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects whilst contributing to tackling climate change.
In addition to holding a PhD in chemistry, Phil also possesses over a decade of experience as a mathematician and materials chemist. At Sphera, he oversees the company’s financial operations and projections, the day-to-day running of the business and executes plans for the company’s future growth.
