Forum member Damon Voss of My Sports Clinic has completed an epic Coast to Coast challenge in aid of the Children's Heart Unit Fund (CHUF).
The 3 day challenge saw a core team of 11 complete a 100 mile bike ride, starting in Whitehaven, with a 1 mile swim en-route across Derwentwater on the first day. The team then completed a double-marathon, running 53 miles to Close House on day two, followed by a final marathon on day 3 to the finish in Tynemouth. The team were joined by others for either or both of the first or the third days.
The challenge is the third and most difficult annual C2C event so far organised by Ivan and Nadine Hollingsworth to raise money for the Children's Heart Unit Fund. Ivan and Nadine's baby boy Seb was born with a heart condition requiring several operations at the Freeman Hospital to save his life.
Damon, pictured above with fellow runner Paul Brennon arriving at Close House after the 53 mile run on day two, commented: "I have been Ivan's physio from before the first challenge in 2010 which saw him run the coast to coast in 5 days. Since then I have helped prepare Ivan and then piece him back together before during and after these events. I have also treated Nadine who has joined in on the event for the last day of running."
Damon is still raising money through his JustGiving page for CHUF. If you would like to contribute please visit www.justgiving.com/Damon-Voss0
