Wayne HemingwayAn authority on housing design, fashion, branding, event management & absolutely everything vintage!
- One of Britain's most acclaimed designers
- Co-founder of Red or Dead
- Inspirational speaker, from selling handmade & vintage clothing on Camden Market to Red or Dead and beyond
Wayne Hemingway has been a visionary for over 35 years alongside his wife Gerardine and, throughout it all, their feet were - and will continue to be - firmly planted in societal needs.
As entrepreneurs and major influencers in the global design industry, Wayne has a fair few stories to tell and lessons to give - and people love to hear them. His talks are insightful, thought-provoking, inspiring, often hilarious and always truthful, warts and all.
Wayne and Gerardine's first vision was to create the affordable designer label - Red or Dead - which truth be told, did rather well. After 21 consecutive seasons on the catwalk, they sold it in a multi-million-pound deal and launched HemingwayDesign. The rest, as they say, is history.
Most recent projects have focused on supporting and developing the UK’s knowledge-based industries, such as The Bridge Dartford and a 1,000 unit extension to the University of Warwick’s accommodation.
Now led by two generations of the Hemingway family, HemingwayDesign has been doing some impactful and noteworthy work in the areas of branding and storytelling, nationally significant place branding and public place making events, student experience and coastal regeneration in towns like Lowestoft, Margate, Hunstanton, Hayling Island, Boscombe / Bournemouth and Morecambe.
Wayne is one of Britain's most acclaimed designers and has worked with clients such as Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, Coca-Cola and The National Trust on products and influenced the skylines of Manchester, Maidenhead and Bournemouth as well as Gateshead and others with housing regeneration.
Interior design projects have included the London 2012 athletes’ village, they've redesigned how staff at McDonald’s and Transport for London look and they’ve put Darlington on the map with The Festival of Thrift. Linking them all is an ethos to meet social needs and a vision to cut through the ordinary and make life better.
