Control of East Coast Mainline must stop ‘flip-flopping’ to ensure it becomes truly-effective part of transport infrastructure, says Entrepreneurs’ Forum Chairman

James Robson, Chairman of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum, said: “The operation of the East Coast Mainline has to stop flip-flopping between franchise and Government control if it is ever to become a truly-effective part of our transport infrastructure.

“Our North East members are regular users of the route and rely on it heavily, but it is creaking at the seams and needs consistent control to deliver the investment it needs.  I hope it doesn’t impact on the planned introduction of the much-needed Azuma trains, which were expected to replace the ageing rolling stock later this year.”
