Insurance Specialists Join Ward Hadaway

An experienced team of insurance specialists have joined leading North law firm Ward Hadaway.
Paul Hughes and Chris Smith have joined the UK Top 100 law firm as Consultants in the Personal Injury team with a combined experience of over 30 years advising insurers, companies and local authorities on claims against them
Paul has over 20 years’ experience in dealing with injury claims on behalf of insurers, self-insured companies and their representatives.
He handles complex and high value claims, including catastrophic injuries, fatalities, stress at work claims and other psychiatric injuries and has experience of dealing with complex inquests.
Paul has advised bus companies on claims for more than 15 years, including major injury cases, inquests, fraudulent claims, credit hire and routine injury claims.
He is also a qualified mediator who has mediated in over 65 personal injury and professional negligence claims over a number of years.
Paul is a member of the Advisory Council to Trust Mediation (a specialist mediation provider for personal injury claims), former deputy head of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers Alternative Dispute Resolution sector focus team and a former member of the Law Society’s Civil Justice Committee.
Chris Smith has over 7 years’ experience in dealing with injury and recovery claims on behalf of insurers, self-insured companies, local authorities and their representatives.
He deals with all forms of injury claims with a particular specialism in investigating and defending fraudulent claims, including leading an investigation into 180 fraudulent injury claims against a local authority.
Chris also deals with complex liability disputes and recovery claims.
