North East business Tulip’s Mot Centre today announced expansion plans with the purchase of a new Newcastle site with funding from Barclays.
Tulip’s MOT Centre, established in 2010, is now located at Vance Court, Transbritannia Enterprise Park, Blaydon, Newcastle and owned and run by local entrepreneurs and brothers Thomas Tulip and Steven Tulip. The company is a registered MOT Centre also offering car repairs and maintenance, and the funding from Barclays has assisted with the purchase of the new premises which were previously leased on the same industrial park.
Thomas Tulip, Owner of, Tulip’s MOT Centre said: “I started the business with my brother Steven in 2010 and leased the premises but decided the time was right to invest for the future and buy premises rather than lease. Barclays provided a commercial mortgage for the purchase and have been so helpful I’ve since moved all my day to day banking to them. Buying our own premises helps secure the future of the business and takes us into our next phase of growth.”
Tulip’s MOT Centre employs three people locally and with the move to the new premises hope to create the opportunity for more jobs.
Katharine Mather, Business Banking Manager at Barclays put together the funding package for the deal and said: “Thomas and Steve run an excellent business and have enormous experience in the motor sector. It’s great to be able to support a local business that is thriving and expanding for the future and we look forward to seeing the business continue to grow in the coming years and supporting them with their future needs.”
