Jamie Hutchinson returned to his native North East to start a new business but is now also contributing to up-skilling local talent and bringing work to the region.

After graduating from the Institute of Art and Design in London, he started his television career working on the Dream Team drama for Sky One.

After various roles with a broadcast facilities house, he moved into management with the Picture Canning Company.

Keen to return north, six years ago Jamie opened a regional office for the company, supplying cameras and crews for the film and television industry.

Two years later he bought out his partners in Picture Canning North.

From a ten day shoot for Grand Designs in Cumbria to the film One Night in Turin, Jamie’s investment in high end equipment, including one of only three specialist RED cameras in the region, and the most talented crews is paying off.

Picture Canning North moved to new premises at Hoults Yard in Newcastle in 2008 and will soon  launch new services, including training courses in the use of the RED camera format so that local crew can  extend their CVs and London-based producers can be assured highly qualified crews are available in the north.
