High Frequency Economics - Members-only Points of View Focus Dinner with Global Economist Dr Ian C Shepherdson
23rd February 2012
Venue:
Radisson Blu Hotel DurhamDurham DH1 5TA
Date & Time:
Guest speakers are often in demand, and the interest of the brilliant economist and highly regarded forecaster, Dr. Ian C Shepherdson, has prompted us to extend our popular dinner format to both members and partners of the Forum.
You’ll often see Ian quoted in the UK and international press, and he is one of the Wall Street Journal’s top go-to people for jargon-free, expert analysis.
During the evening Ian will draw on his vast experience to offer a unique perspective on business issues, both close to home and globally.
The fact that his publication, Daily Notes, is widely read by investors, policymakers and dealers in over 20 countries, suggests this is someone worth having a conversation with over the dinner table.
This dinner is also an invitation for you to take part in a highly charged ‘state of the nation’ discussion amongst your peers. After Ian’s speech we are keen to encourage predictions, knowledge sharing and a dose of healthy debate around the table.
And of course our Chatham House rules of confidentiality means that whatever is discussed stays within the room. Please contact us today to secure your seat.
More about Ian.....
Ian Shepherdson, described by the Times as one of “the best economists in the City”, is a hugely experienced, provocative and entertaining analyst of the economic scene.
Having lived in both the U.S. and the U.K, Dr. Shepherdson offers a unique transatlantic perspective on the global economy. He believes that an understanding of the macroeconomic environment is an essential element of business planning, and he seeks to explain complex issues to executives in a relaxed, jargon-free manner. His presentations leave audiences with clear, actionable messages on the key issues of the day.
Dr. Shepherdson is frequently quoted in the U.S. and international press, and has made many television and radio appearances. He is a past winner of the Wall Street Journal’s Forecaster of the Year competition. He has held a long-standing interest in property, both commercial and residential, and was one of the first economists to argue — as early as the autumn of 2005 — that the U.S. housing market was facing a major collapse that would trigger a deep recession.
This dinner is by invitation only, extended to Forum members and corporate partners and is charged at £65 + VAT. Please be aware that any cancellations received within 72 hours of the dinner will be charged in full. Places are strictly limited and are on a first-come, first-served basis and we urge you to book early to avoid disappointment.
The evening will commence at 6.45pm, so guests are advised to arrive at around 6.30pm allowing sufficient time for registration and drinks reception.
