16th June 2010 - Points of View with John Thompson Senior, Chairman of Thompson's of Prudhoe

Points of View with John Thompson Senior, Chairman of Thompson's of Prudhoe
This dinner will be chaired by Ian Baggett, managing director of Adderstone Group Ltd and senior member of the Entrepreneurs’ Forum.

We are delighted to invite you to join your peer group of founder members (affectionately known as ‘battle scarred entrepreneurs’) for an evening of high level discussion and stimulating debate.

Held under Chatham House rules of confidentiality, the evening will provide a perfect opportunity for a frank exchange of views on the gritty reality of business, as we hope to emerge from an unprecedented period of tough economic challenges, under the stewardship of the new coalition government.

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Ian Baggett, founder and managing director of Adderstone Group Ltd., as chair for this exclusive dinner.
And we are equally privileged to announce that John Thompson will be our special guest for the evening – a man who has quite literally shaped the business landscape of the region for more than five decades.

John recently went on record saying that “this is not the time to be cavalier - it's the time to be frugal and consolidate”. But in spite of this, John is confident that the outlook for the business is positive and that Thompsons of Prudhoe will continue to remain profitable.

Thompsons of Prudhoe - built on strong foundations.

From company headquarters at Low Prudhoe in Northumberland, Thompsons manages the operation of four quarries, four waste disposal sites and three recycling centres across Northumberland, Durham, Cumbria and Tyne & Wear.

Chairman John Thompson Snr is the son of the firm's co-founders, William and Margaret. Also serving on the board are son John and daughter Helen.
