29th June 2010 - The Mistakes that Make You Stronger, Members-Only Focus Dinner with Jamie Greenwood, Managing Director of Ventures UK Plc

The Mistakes that Make You Stronger, Members-Only Focus Dinner with Jamie Greenwood, Managing Director of Ventures UK Plc
We invite you to hear from a serious serial entrepreneur who has developed large and small businesses but is a firm advocate of smaller and leaner business in tough economic times. Unconventionally on the evening, our guest speaker Jamie Greenwood mainly wishes to share with you his mistakes along his incredible journey and how he overcame them, in the hope that members can learn from them.

Jamie’s journey has been far from easy; he’s faced virtually every issue & challenges you can dream of but importantly, has a diverse business that’s the best in its field.

Starting out as a designer and estimator for a shop fitting company in Leeds, Jamie quickly worked his way through the company and at the age of 27 headed-up an MBO in 1998, raising nearly £1m in funds. This may have been his first mistake.....

The business under Jamie’s stewardship expanded both organically and through acquisition, forming the Yorkline Group of companies, developing a significant turnover in the space of a short period, in fact over four times the level when he took over.

Whilst still running the Yorkline Group, in 2001 Jamie sold some equity and formed a company registered outside the UK called Lyndhurst Estates to develop a commercial property portfolio within the UK.

At the age of 30 Jamie was listed by Who’s Who as a young entrepreneur to watch out for.

Lyndhurst Estates was developing well, however the Yorkline Group was also doing very well on paper, generating a healthy profit, but all the cash was tied up in the growing business.

In 2003 after a sudden bombshell Jamie had to rescue the Yorkline Group from Administrative Receivership and in the process regained control.

Faced with a huge set of issues he systematically turned the shop fitting business around and although not entirely escaping the recent economic issues, today the business trading as NJL Yorkline is the best in its field in more ways than one.

In 2004 Lyndhurst Estates was sold and Jamie formed a simple company which has now become Ventures UK PLC, simply described as “entrepreneurial ventures of entrepreneurial adventurers”.......

If you really want to learn from the mistakes made in business, then this event is a must for your diary!  Don’t delay in registering your interest with us today.
