Durham CCC, Emirates Riverside, Park Road, Chester le Street
Justin is the head sprint coach of British Cycling and was Team GB’s most successful coach at 2016 Rio Olympics, his athletes winning seven medals, including three gold and three Olympic records.
Growing up in New Zealand, Justin had a riding career spanning 25 years. He won 13 New Zealand championships as an elite sprinter and competed at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games and at the 2004 World Championships, culminating in being crowned Masters World Champion in 2009.
Justin began coaching while still competing and was solely responsible for the creation and rapid rise of the World Champion New Zealand sprint program.
Before moving to Team GB, he was head-hunted as the only foreigner ever employed by the mighty French Cycling Federation. As director of track, he was responsible for changing the culture within the French team, resulting in four World Champions and two World Records.
Managing performance at the very limits of human capability is all in day’s work for Justin, who has enjoyed success as both an athlete and a coach.
